Another big change has come to YADA – we have a new teacher, Emelyne. She is a great asset to the team and the kids love her. All of the children we serve attend various government schools which she visits every Friday. From visiting the schools and home visits she identified that as well as the tuition we provide we also need a space for the kids to receive some pastoral care. So we have created a space for this every Wednesday afternoon and will see how it develops. Parents are appreciating this and we are thankful that parents are becoming more and more involved in their children’s education and encouraging their children to succeed.
Ezechiel has been busy developing a business stream to YADA. Last year we applied for a grant through One Collective to start a cafe/restaurant (see pics above) and to buy tuk tuks, a very popular mode of transport here. We were delighted that our application was successful. The hope is that these businesses can generate income to help with salaries for our staff. Please do pray that these are fruitful and successful. We have many more exciting plans, so stay tuned..
